Roasted Piñon

Temperature: 350°F.
Roasting Time: Approximately 15 minutes

  1. Place piñon in a large container, rinse with water, add salt and water, stir, and allow mixture to stand for 10-20 minutes. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Drain water, Place piñon in a shallow baking pan, spread thin, roast piñon in a 350° F oven for approximately 15 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  3. Test occasionally for doneness, the nut meat should be slightly underdone as the heat of the shell will continue to cook the nut meat while cooling.
